It became Cămin commune in 2002. The locality is on the banks of the Crasna canal, in the contact area between the Carei Plains and the former swamp, now Ecedea Plain. After the drainage of the Ecedea swamp, the area of arable land increased significantly, but, in counterpart, many traditional occupations related to the swamp life disappeared. Thus, the dominant economic branch remained agriculture. Besides traditional cultures, vine growing and animal breeding are also present.

The church choir, as well as the locality’s brass band is quite popular at various cultural events throughout the county. János Scheffler, roman-catholic bishop of Satu Mare (1887-1952), a victim of the communist terror who died in the Jilava prison, was born in Cămin
